Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have had a whirlwind few weeks as they wrap up their final royal duties.

And while many of said duties have taken place front and centre of the public eye, there were some small engagements they managed to keep under wraps.

A rather important one occurred shortly after they landed back in the UK – a farewell lunch with their on-the-ground staff.

As confirmed by HELLO!, the pair visited The Goring in London, where it is understood they hosted a lunch for their team, some of whom will be departing their roles just like Harry and Meghan as they step back from their royal roles.

“Meghan and Harry really wanted to show their appreciation, they know how hard everyone has worked,” an insider told Page Six.

“They toasted the team and thanked them for everything they have done. Some of the staffers cried,” the source added.

On the day, the 38-year-old mum was seen leaving the Belgravia Hotel, which is the very same place Duchess Catherine stayed the night before her 2011 wedding.

For the lunch, Meghan was wearing a camel coat and Aquazzura heels, as seen in images obtained by The Sun.

Later that evening, Harry and Meghan stepped out for the first time together since their shock announcement, attending the Endeavour Fund Awards.

Wearing a chic blue Victoria Beckham dress, the Duchess was positively glowing.

It marked the first of several stunning fashion displays from Meghan, who rounded out her royal duties with a bright and bold colour palette that won’t be forgotten anytime soon.

Earlier this year, it was confirmed Meghan and Harry would close their managing office at Buckingham Palace, which sadly resulted in the loss of 15 jobs for existing staff members.

While the team worked closely with the pair over the last two years as they worked as official senior royals, the royals’ new transitional life away from their current roles will no longer require the team’s management.

That said, there’s no denying the work of the team was hugely appreciated – a standard lunch at The Goring costs on average AUD $81 and above according to review website, Open Table.

With at least 15 staff members and a special private booking, we’re imagining this afternoon soiree didn’t come cheap!

After completing their final public engagement on Monday, March 9 at the annual Commonwealth Day Service, it’s understood Harry and Meghan will now return to Canada, where they will begin their transition into their new financially independent lives.

And more important than anything, the parents will finally be reunited with baby Archie, who is believed to have stayed back in Canada while his mum and dad wrapped things up in Britain.

Watch this space though – we’re pretty sure there’s a lot more to come where Meghan and Harry are concerned…
