Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have had a busy summer of travel, but there’s one more trip on the agenda before they officially end their summer break.

Indeed as September kicks off and the royals begin returning to work after the break, Meghan and Harry are looking at one of their busiest months to date – and it all starts with a very special visit up north to Balmoral.

According to the Daily Mail, Meghan and Harry will make the trip up to the Scottish estate to visit Her Majesty the Queen in the second week of September – just before they head off to South Africa for their Autumn tour of the country.

This will mark the first time Meghan and baby Archie will visit the Queen in the beautiful location. The 93-year-old regularly heads up to Balmoral to stay for the better part of the British summer and the beginning of Autumn.

The Sussexes will follow a number of other royal family members who have paid Her Majesty a visit over the last few weeks, including Kate and Wills and their kids, along with Princes Charles, Andrew, Edward and Princess Anne.

The Sussexes will join the Queen and Prince Philip for all the usual activities the royals enjoy up north, including some short hikes, fishing and horse riding.

The timing of the new parents trip comes a little later than Kate and William’s visit with their kids, which took place in August.

The publication reports the different timings for each family was not deliberate, and it was expected that Harry and Meghan will travel to the location in the same way Kate and Wills did – via a commercial plane.

Meghan and Archie have never visited the Queen at Balmoral before, which makes the trip all the more special.

The trip will no doubt provide a mix of fun and relaxation for the pair and their new son, who have been travelling a lot this summer.

In early August, the trio flew to Ibiza to celebrate Meghan’s 38th birthday.

A few weeks later, they travelled to Nice, France, where they stayed in a gorgeous private residence belonging to famed singer and long-time friend of the royal family, Elton John.

Their trip to Balmoral will likely be the last short-haul flight before they make their highly anticipated visit to South Africa, where the family of three will commence their royal tour.

Over the weekend, Prince Harry himself revealed the very date they will head off on the big adventure – September 23.

Sharing details on his and Meghan’s official joint Instagram account, Harry said he “can’t wait” to introduce Meghan and Archie to South Africa, a place he holds dear.

“Save the date and follow us on our journey,” read an Instagram story shared by the royals, written above a countdown.

Prince Harry himself will also visit to Malawi and Botswana where he is known for his active charity work for Sentable.

The organisation supports mental health and well-being for children in both countries, both of which are known to be close to Harry’s heart.

Angola is also on the list for the Duke to visit. Here, he will learn more about the landmine clearing efforts.

We think a little bit of down time with the Queen in the countryside will definitely energise the royals ahead of this whirlwind tour!
