Duchess Catherine has been known to make some serious fashion statements in her time, but she’s never made one quite so… apt.

Indeed when a video of the British royal surfaced over the weekend from her country home, fans were stopped in their tracks as the Duchess was joined by none other than tennis legend Andy Murray.

But content of the video aside, it was her outfit that made us all do a double take – and for the very best reason.

Catherine, who is patron of the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club, made a guest appearance alongside British tennis pro Andy Murray in a sweet bid to shine a light on the sport.

The Wimbledon Championships would have just been coming a close had it not been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic this year, but that didn’t mean the royal couldn’t find another way to get excited about what could have been.

In the video, Kate is seen chatting away to a young group of tennis fans from Bond Primary School in South London when she tells them: “I’ve got a very important person here that’s going to come and join us, that would love to meet you guys and might be able to share some tennis tips as well…”

Next minute, Andy Murray joins in the call, much to the children’s delight.

Catherine then quizzed Andy with a series of questions about the sport, and Andy’s life in lockdown with his three children.

“We’re doing the home schooling which is difficult… It was difficult but at times I really enjoyed it as well,” he tells her.

The talented sportsman also reveals that he has been keeping fit through cycling.

“I was going out on my road bike which was something I’ve never done before, so that’s something kind of new that I learned I enjoy during lockdown,” he explained.

“It’s quite important in these times to stay as active as you can because it good for the mind as well.”

The tennis ace served up some tips on how he’s keeping fit mentally and physically amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Of course, it wasn’t just Andy Murray’s glorious collaboration with Kate that really captured out attention.

Ever the fashion muse, our sights naturally went to devour the outfit Catherine decided to wear on the day – and we certainly weren’t disappointed to see her green printed shirt dress.

But on closer inspection, we were even more taken with the design when we realised what the actual print consisted of – tiny tennis players!

Yep, Duchess Catherine, a fashion icon for the ages was wearing one of the quirkiest prints we’ve ever laid eyes on to date – and she pulled it off like a, well… tennis-loving pro.

Kate’s dress featured adorable little tennis players in print.

At this time of year, we’d have been seeing Kate take to the royal box at Wimbledon to watch the grand finals play out.

But despite the fact the show did not go ahead this year, we can at least take comfort in the fact that we were given no less of a tennis-fashion-spectacle from the Duchess.

We’ll safely claim this outfit won game, set and match.
