Family’s adorable “not quite newborn” photoshoot goes viral

“We don't plan on having kids anytime in the near future - sorry Mum!”

There are a multitude of different ways to welcome a beloved new member into the family.

A party, a gift, even a celebratory holiday.

But this hilarious couple has stepped up to a whole new level to welcome their new member!

Taking inspiration from the ever popular newborn shoot, usually featuring soft light, swaths of fabric and adoring glances, this couple, Abbey and Matt, showed off their beloved ‘baby’ in a very unique way.

“We don’t plan on having kids anytime in the near future – sorry Mum!” Abbey told The Daily Mail, “Both sides of our family give hints towards having children and at this point in time, Humphrey will be the closest they will get to a grandson. They all adore him though and welcome him as a family member.”

“Humphrey loved all the attention,” said Abbey, “And I suppose the few extra treats he got for being so well behaved. He is such a gentle natured dog.”

The pictures, which feature Abbey and Matt and their new “fur-child” Humphry in a variety of classic “newborn” poses, were posed on photographer, Elisha Minnette’s, website.

But make no mistake, Abbey and Matt’s adorable shoot is not a dig at newborn photoshoots, but rather an ode.

“I am not making a joke of new parents doing newborn shoots; I actually make a living off of photographing real newborns!” Elisha Minnette told The Weekly.

“Every day, I see loads of photographers post images of newborn babies and they are all the same, including mine,” Elisha revealed to The Daily Mail, “Same pose, same props, same everything, so we wanted to re-recreate the shoot with a puppy.”

“Abby and Matt live on a big property in a rural area, so we had a lot of gorgeous scenery in every direction. It was a hilarious day but we had a lot of fun.”

“Making people smile and have a laugh was our intention for these images. We had absolutely nothing planned for this shoot, we just came up with the ideas on the spot.”

“And sometimes, they turn out to be the best shoots.”
