Khloe Kardashian has opened up about her struggles with breastfeeding. The star shared her decision to stop breastfeeding daughter, two-month-old True during a candid Twitter thread.
As most new mums know, breastfeeding isn't simply a matter of whacking your new baby on the boob and everything just happening like it's supposed to. It takes work, and sometimes, it simply doesn't work.
For a lot of new mothers the challenges of breastfeeding are enormous. When nurturing your child is your prime focus, it not going to plan means an overwhelm of exhaustion, stress and confusion.
This is the struggle that Khloe Kardashian and her new baby, two-month-old True Thompson have faced. Now Khloe has been candidly open about her decision to stop breastfeeding after she "tried every trick in the book" to make it work.
When a Twitter follower asked Khloe if she expressed milk while she worked, Khloe took to the social platform to explain her personal decision to stop.
Khloe tweeted: "I had to stop breast feeding it was really hard for me to stop (emotionally) but it wasn't working for my body. Sadly"
Khloe used the thread to explain that after trying power pumping, lactation cookies, massages, and consultations with a lactation specialist she made the decision that unlike her sister, Kourtney who found the experience much easier with her children, she would no longer be breastfeeding daughter True.
"It was so frustrating because for Kourt it was sooooooo easy for her to breastfeed. My experience was very different." shares Khloe.
Many other mums jumped on board to share their own experiences, each of them acknowledging just how life altering, and often heartbreaking the decision was for them.
Khloe replied, that it was the same for her, although ultimately the decision that breastfeeding wasn't right for her came as a huge relief.
"Oh my gosh I was the same!! I fought and fought to try and continue but then when I actually stopped, I didn't realize what a relief it was for me to not stress and worry anymore. Any sec I had of downtime I was stressing to produce more for the next feeding"
Khloe's candid sharing of her parenting challenges is certainly refreshing. It's not always easy for any of us, is it?
