Nun the wiser

Abortions may be strictly forbidden by the Catholic church, but one compassionate nun was willing to break the rules.

Donna Quinn from Illinois grew up in a religious household and later became a Dominican nun.

Although she lived a life devoted to God, Donna took issue with some things her religion stood for.

She was almost kicked out of the church when she wrote to the Pope demanding that he select a female archbishop.

But Donna really felt the heat when her mother superior spotted a picture in the local newspaper in which Donna was standing outside an abortion clinic.

It turned out Donna had been helping desperate women, some of them rape victims, to terminate their pregnancies.

“The choice is the woman’s… do not interfere,” she said in her defence.

The nun was willing to break the rules.

Burning desire

John Orr’s career as a respected fire inspector went up in smoke when his chilling secret was revealed.

As an arson investigator for the fire department in Southern California, it was John’s job to look into a series of deadly blazes that had killed four people and caused millions of dollars’ worth of damage.

When he wasn’t fighting fire, John was busy writing about it.

He published a novel, Points of Origin, about a firefighter who found arson more exciting than sex.

It wasn’t a clever move.

Soon after, he was convicted of starting many of the fires he’d investigated.

His habit of burning down several linen shops earned him the nickname Pillow Pyro.

The 68-year-old was sentenced to life imprisonment.

A documentary has been made about John Orr.

The spy who loved me

When Alex Chapman first saw Anna Kushchenko at a rave party, he knew she was the one for him.

“I’m sorry, but you’re the most gorgeous girl I’ve ever seen,” he told her.

To his surprise, Anna liked what she saw, too, and they married just five months later.

But their four-year relationship was no fairy tale.

Alex noticed a change in his wife.

She became obsessed with money and begged him to relocate from England to the US.

“There was such a dramatic change in her,” he recalled. “I hardly knew her anymore.”

The couple split and Anna flew to America.

Then Alex received a visit from the police.

Anna had been arrested in America for being a Russian spy.

Alex wasn’t even surprised.”It made sense because of all her erratic behaviour,” he noted.

The FBI concluded that Anna was sent to the States to spy on politicians. She was later dubbed ‘Russia’s most glamorous secret agent’.

The moment Alex saw Anna, he knew she was the woman for him.

That’ll teach you

High school maths teacher Scott Sherwood learnt a lesson he’ll probably never forget: the past always catches up with you.

The hulking former body builder left behind his life in sunny Australia to settle in England where he worked at Peacehaven Community School.

But things became far from peaceful for Scott when, during their lunch break, students googled his name and made a startling discovery.

Their teacher was a former gay porn star.

Performing under the name Aaron Cage, he starred in films such as Naked Sword and Manpower.

X-rated photos of the teacher soon began circulating among students, outraging parents.

During his porn star days, Scott was asked what his mother would think of his sleazy career.

“My mum’s English,” Scott replied. “I’m still waiting for the birds and bees conversation. Don’t worry, Mum, I’ve worked it out.”

He’s been temporarily suspended from his job while investigations continue.

Now that’s a double life!

The secret family

Andrew Ingham was a very busy man.

Along with managing a supermarket, the 50-year-old was also keeping his two families secret from one another.

Andrew had first married Jacqui and had eight children with her.

But he began a long-term affair with Anita, who lived just 20 minutes from his home in Hertfordshire, UK, and fathered another four kids with her.

For 21 years, he managed the seemingly impossible task of dividing his time between the two families without arousing suspicion from either Jacqui or Anita. It wasn’t until his children grew up that they discovered their father’s big secret on Facebook.

Jacqui and Anita met to discuss their man’s adultery and later confronted him together.

Both sent him packing and he moved into a flat where he became increasingly reclusive.

Eventually, he took his own life.

Anita described Andrew as a man who was good at keeping up the charade.

“He spent half his time with each of us,” she revealed. “He was just a very good liar.”
