Tiahleigh Palmer’s close friend shares heartbreaking tribute on anniversary of death

A year after the 12-year-old Queensland girl was murdered her school friend shares her grief.

Twelve-year-old Tiahleigh Palmer was a life taken too soon and too horrifically. It’s just over a year since her body was found. And many who knew her and loved her are still feeling the pain.

On a Facebook page dedicated to her memory, the words of one of her closest friends, Mia-Sky Pfingst, have been posted.

Mia-Sky’s sister Alana has shared this moving tribute to Tiahleigh.

My sister would like me to share here anniversary speech, that she wrote in loving memory of Tiah by Mia-Sky Pfingst.

When I first met Tiah I thought she was strange, different, and too happy and smiled a lot l. Tiah and I became friends easily, I was wired and she was wired too, well we were like weird buddies. She made me laugh when I was down; she also made a world full with joy and happiness. Growing up with Tiah was amazing, we did everything together like, get in trouble together, messed around a lot, played games. Those years with her where amazingly fantastic, our adventures I could never forget.

But when we got into grade six and we had to graduate at the end of the year was special, we were nearly in high school and we were very excited and nervous.

After we graduated the next day Tiah and I were talking about high school and I promised her one thing, that I would go to the same high school with her and be there 24/7 with her no matter what happened. But that promise never happened and I’ll never forget her and the amount of fun we had together she will be loved by me and all others and I could never replace her with someone else. I love and miss her so much and the amount of love I have for her is not explainable because I love her to much to explain.

You will be missed!

Mia-Sky’s mother Jade told The Brisbane Times that her daughter has had a “rough year” and was not “ready to face” what had happened.

Tiah’s foster father Rick Thorburn, who claimed he had dropped the young girl to school the morning she was reported missing, was charged with Tiahleigh’s murder in September.

Trent Jordan Thorburn, her 19-year-old foster brother, was charged with two counts of perjury, one count of attempting to pervert the course of justice and incest.

Foster mother and foster brother Julene, 54. and Joshua Thorburn, 20, were both charged with one count each of attempting to pervert the course of justice during the murder investigation. They are expected to testify against Tiahleigh’s foster father and murder-accused Rick Thorburn.
