Navy officer bashed on train after Anzac service

He asked a group of drunken young men to stop harassing train passengers. What happened next is disgraceful.

A 24-year-old Navy officer in full uniform has been bashed while travelling home from a Sydney Anzac Day service.

The military man was travelling on a train in Sydney’s south-west at about 2.45pm when a group of drunken young men entered his carriage and started harassing passengers.

He intervened, asking them to stop their offensive behaviour, causing one of the group to punch him square in the face as he attempted to leave the train at Glenfield,

The officer suffered a bloody nose but did not require further treatment. Police are investigating the incident and are hunting for a Caucasian man, about 160cm tall with a large build and brown, thinning hair. He was wearing green cargo pants and a black jumper.
