Heartbroken Perth parents speak out after baby’s tragic death in baby swing

“You never think this will happen to you,” his grief-stricken mother said.

Perth couple Jeremy Rainsford and Emma Granger have gone through every parent’s worst nightmare and have lost their baby son.

Baby Kayden died in his swing and although Jeremy and Emma don’t blame the swing for his death, they’re warning others not to leave babies unsupervised in them, even for a minute.

They believe the little boy died as a result of choking on his own vomit in his sleep. He was only left alone in the swing for a matter of minutes.

His dad told The West Australian he’d fed and burped Kayden before placing him in the swing while he went to the toilet.

When Mr Rainsford returned, Kayden was limp. Her performed CPR on the three-month-old but was unable to revive him.

Ms Granger said Kayden had only just started smiling and giggling.

“You never think this will happen to you,” she told The West Australian.

“Don’t leave your children to sleep in those swings and don’t leave them in there unsupervised for too long,” Ms Granger said.

The exact cause of Kayden’s death is being investigated by a coroner.

Our deepest condolences go out to Jeremy and Emma at this devastating time.
