South Australian woman faces court for biting waiter over price of fish

“Do you know how serious that is, over a fish?”

A South Australian woman is facing court today over allegedly biting a waiter following a heated row over the price of a meal.

Seven News reports the diner asked a waiter working at a popular Chinese restaurant, Nice Fish Cafe on Gouger Street if it was possible to order half a barramundi.

The court heard the Adelaide woman was told the fish was only available in full, which she proceeded to order.

The woman then disputed the bill (an act which was caught on camera by a fellow patron), threw half the money owed to staff on the ground and attempted to run out of the cafe.

Witness told the court the waiter tried to chase the woman to retrieve the remaining money, which is when the woman put the man in a headlock and repeatedly bit him.

Seven News reports a police bodycam video was played during the trial where the woman is heard to admit that she “bit” the waiter.

“Do you know how serious that is, over a fish?” the officer asks.

The incident occurred in June last year, and the woman being charged with the assault is facing court this week.
