The New South Wales Food Authority have reported that Metcash has recalled all Black & Gold Mixed Vegetables 1kg from shelves in IGA, Campbells and Independent Grocers across Victoria, New South Wales and Tasmania as it could be contaminated by potentially deadly listeria bacteria.
The NSW Food Authority have said that anyone who has purchased this product is advised not to consume it and can return it for a full refund.
People at high risk of listeria contamination include pregnant women, unborn and newborn babies, those who are frail or suffer from immune problems and the elderly.
Listeriosis symptoms usually appear within two to 30 days of eating contaminated food, but it can take as long as two months for signs to show up.
In July, there was an urgent recall for numerous frozen vegetable products and six people from NSW and Victoria died from the disease earlier this year.
Symptoms of listeriosis symptoms can include:
Headache
Fever
Tiredness
Aches and pains
Diarrhoea
Nausea
Stomach cramps
In severe cases, symptoms may progress to meningitis and blood poisoning.
