The annual Met Gala is one of the fashion world’s most anticipated days of the year, which is exactly why May 4 was a little hard to stomach for the style-sphere’s glitterati.

Traditionally always falling on the first Monday of May, the Met Gala was set to bring just as much (if not more) glitz and glam this year that we’ve come to know and love.

Only, 2020 brought about the well-known issue of a global pandemic – and suffice to say it sent all red carpet plans into disarray…

This year’s Met Gala was one of many events to be postponed amid the health crisis, but just because it couldn’t go ahead at the usual location of the Metropolitan Museum of Art didn’t mean its array of high-brow guests couldn’t find another way to celebrate.

Themed “About Time: Fashion and Duration” (selected by the formidable Anna Wintour, as per usual), this year’s event was well on track to leave us completely spellbound.

Of course, if there’s anything we’ve learned from this pandemic, it’s that humans have an incredible ability to adapt in different ways, which is exactly how these celebrities have managed to mark the day.

From epic throwbacks to getting all dressed up in their lounge rooms, this is one Met Gala no one is going to forget in a hurry.
