2020 has well and truly kicked off with the new Today Show hosts Allison Langdon and Karl Stefanovic behind the desk.

And whilst Karl, 45, is known for his antics both on and off-screen, it was his co-host who came out with a cheekier remark at Karl’s expense that we must admit gave us a laugh.

Speaking to the studio live from the Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles, reported Charles Croucher said the award ceremony that celebrates the year’s best achievements in film and TV “is pretty well known as the drunker awards”.

Allison, 40, was quick to remark, “Karl will be right at home,” to which Charles responded, “It’s your comparison, Ally, not mine.”

Back in 2009, Karl made headlines the day after the TV WEEK Logie Awards when he hosted the show drunk.

Karl and Allison made their Today debut on Saturday for Weekend Today‘s coverage of the bushfire crisis and have already gotten off to a flying start.

Fans took to social media to share their delight at Karl’s return and have praised him for his coverage on the devastating bushfires and charisma.

“I’ve missed @karlstefanovic so much. He is the perfect person for this situation. He just has such a gentle way with people,” one fan tweeted.

Karl, who is expecting his fourth child and first with wife Jasmine Yarbrough, confessed that even he was surprised by the move to bring him back on Today.

“I am as shocked about this as everyone else,” Karl told The Sydney Morning Herald before adding that he didn’t think he’d be given the opportunity to host again.

“I thought my time was up, but then, when I was sounded out about it, it got me thinking,” he said, calling it a “big job with enormous pressures”… “but also without question the best live TV job in Australia.”

Karl has been praised since returning to the Today Show.

Meanwhile Allison, who has been with the Nine Network for almost 20 years and has worked on Nightline, 60 Minutes, Today and Weekend Today over the years, said that she looked forward to working alongside Karl.

“We are great mates but I don’t always agree with everything he says … and he knows that,” she told the Herald, adding, “I can promise you we won’t be boring”.
