Mariah Carey has been awarded an incredible honour — and it’s just in time for Christmas.
The 47-year-old has been named PETA’s “Angel for Animals” title for her work on the new animated film All I Want for Christmas Is You.
Mimi produced, narrated, and provided the music for the holiday flick, which promotes animal adoption and highlights the responsibility of caring for a four-legged friend.
“Mariah Carey is PETA’s hero for homeless animals for encouraging families to adopt from their local shelter,” PETA Senior Vice President Lisa Lange said. “Her holiday film reminds us all that caring for an animal is a responsibility, not just a fantasy — but the one sweet day when you meet the dog who will always be your baby, you know that you belong together.”
The film tells the story of a young girl (Mariah) who adopts a puppy (Jack) for Christmas. The girl struggles with her new four-legged friend at first, but soon learns to treat the dog with patience and understanding.
Earlier in the year, the singer-songwriter revealed that the classic holiday tune would be adapted into an animated film with a short teaser video (watch in the player above).
The clips shows the diva stretched out comfortably on a beige sofa, dressed in a festive pyjama onesie with a whoppingly large amount of diamonds strewn across her neck. She cuddles up closely to her pooch, adorably named Jill E. Beans, as a fireplace roars in the background.
All I Want for Christmas Is You is available now on DVD.

The happy family were recently spotted at the Sugar Factory American Brasserie in Miami, Florida after an evening of performing as a special guest on Lionel Richie’s All the Hits tour.
For the sugar-filled occasion, Moroccan, or ‘Roc,’ as he is affectionately known by his superstar mum, wore a linen blazer and short set with silver sneakers, while his sister sported a palm printed dress with a pussy-bow neckline.
Meanwhile, Mimi perfectly coordinated her ensemble with her little daughter opting for a bright-green mini-dress.
It looks like Monroe may have picked up a few diva-tricks-of-trade from her superstar mum!
The “Hero” hitmaker is often spotted out and about with her adorable kids.
The “Without You” hitmaker was also joined by her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Bryan Tanaka.
But history alone hasn’t been enough to seal the deal, with reports suggesting the couple often butt heads over money, jealousy and fame.
“Mariah got sick of footing the bills for her BF … for things like Gucci and Balmain and super expensive shoes. Bryan also loves jewelry, and we’re told he was always in the market for expensive watches and chains,” TMZ recently revealed.

As for the jealousy, the outlet reports that Bryan developed an “unbridled fury” over Mariah’s relationship with ex-hubby Nick Cannon.
Of course, Nick and Mariah — who were married for six years and share 5-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe — continue to maintain a close relationship for the sake of their children.
“She’s been chummy with him for sure, mostly for the benefit of their twins,” the outlet said, before adding: “They vacation as a family and go to dinner and parties together, sometimes without the kids. We’re told it drove Bryan insane.”
Only time will tell if these two belong together!
