The wife of Carl Williams, the crime figure involved in the infamous Melbourne gangland killings, is set to star in the local version of Mob Wives, a series first made famous in the US.

This isn’t the first time that Roberta Williams has had her life splashed across a television show.

The first season of Underbelly in 2008 explored Carl’s meteoric rise from low-level criminal to one of Australia’s most well-known drug kingpins.

Offspring actress Kat Stewart starred as Roberta opposite House Husbands actor Gyton Grantley as Carl.

The real Roberta Williams will lead the cast of Mob Wives and a pilot has already been filmed for the series.

The show will focus on the drama of Roberta’s everyday life as a mum to her five children – Breanane, Tye, Danielle, Dhakota and Giuseppe.

Roberta is ready to let the country into her life in order to show the real her.

“People think they know me and my story but Australia has seen nothing yet,” Roberta said.

Fellow cast member Lisa Candido added that it will be good for the public to see the gentler side of the women involved.

“It shows a different layer to the stigma that is associated with us,” Lisa said. “Everybody will be keen to peel off the layers, particularly with Roberta, and see there’s a deeper, softer side to these ladies.”

Roberta’s cast members will also include Analya Diaz, the girlfriend of Roberta’s son Tye Stephens as well as Stefani Samac, the 21-year-old daughter of convicted drug smuggler Tomislav Samac and Raquael Villani, Pasquale Villani’s daughter.

Leyla Yavuz, the on/off girlfriend of Former Kings Cross drug kingpin Bill Bayeh, will also feature her life on the show.

There is currently no official release date for Mob Wives.
