As farmers continue to battle one of our worst droughts, the Nine Network is putting on a star-studded benefit concert to raise funds for Rural Aid.

The hosts of Hay Mate: Buy A Bale − David Campbell, Sonia Kruger and Richard Wilkins − didn’t hesitate to get involved in the cause.

“We’re all in this together as Australians and I’m humbled to be a part of a team that’s doing its bit,” David, 45, tells TV WEEK.

“And this shouldn’t be a one-time-only thing − we need to give our support for a while yet.”

Richard Wilkins, David Campbell and Sonia Kruger.

For Sonia, 53, whose mum grew up on a peanut farm in Kingaroy in Queensland, the cause is close to her heart.

“My mother’s whole family made a living from the land,” she says.

Richard, 64, calls the life of a farmer “hard work” − and is aware how much of an impact a crisis such as this can have.

His cousin owns a farm in New Zealand and, while drought hasn’t been an issue there, fires and floods have.

Aussie legend John Farnham will headline the concert, alongside artists such as Daryl Braithwaite, Guy Sebastian and The Veronicas.

“It’s a fantastic line-up,” Richard says, while Sonia adds, “I haven’t seen John perform for a long time.”

We can’t wait!

Hay Mate: Buy A Bale airs Saturday, 7pm, on Nine Network and 9NOW.
