Lisa Wilkinson has shared her one regret following her whirlwind departure from the Today Show last week.

It was a shock to all of us last week when long-time Today Show host, Lisa Wilkinson, has announced on Twitter that she is leaving the show after a decade and going to Ten. She also explained that she would not be returning to the morning show and that day’s show was her last.

Taking to Instagram this weekend, Lisa revealed that thing she regrets most is never getting to say a real goodbye to Today Show fans.

Lisa posted a throwback snap of her and Karl in 2007, alongside a caption which read:

“I’m only sorry that I never got the chance to say goodbye to you all…the incredibly supportive, engaged, opinionated, clever and wonderfully diverse audience of Today.”

“Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the fun years we shared, and for welcoming me into your homes each morning. It has been an absolute privilege.”

This weekend has also seen an announcement on the future career plans of Lisa’s former Today co-host Karl Stefanovic.

While rumours have been rife that Karl has been “begging” to leave the ‘Today Show’ – he confirmed over the weekend that he would not be leaving the Today Show.

Speaking to the Sunday Telegraph, Karl confirmed, “I’m not going anywhere.”

“I’m loving the show more than I ever have.”

Karl also confirmed that while the team was rattled by the events of last week, it was not broken and they will continue to present the best news content possible.

Lisa will be joining news and current-affairs program The Project as co-host alongside Carrie Bickmore, Waleed Aly and Peter Helliar. She will also be hosting The Sunday Project in 2018.
