As the Big Little Lies cast head back to Monterey to start filming season two we’re slowly learning more and more about what the next season could hold.

We’ve had behind the scenes snaps and now we have confirmation that four cast members from the first season will return along with two new regulars.

One of the regulars will be Oscar winner Meryl Streep, who was one of the first new additions to be officially joining the cast of Big Little Lies, season two.

According to Entertainment Weekly, aka the most reliable source in all things TV, the legendary actress is making a rare TV appearance to play the role of Mary Louise Wright – the mother of the abusive Perry Wright #RIP (played by Alexander Skarsgard).

Nicole Kidman, who plays Celeste Wright, AKA Perry’s widow, shared a first look at Meryl Streep in the role of Mary Louise, and so far it looks to be a pretty heart-warming scene.

According to HBO season two will be an “[exploration of] the malignancy of lies, the durability of friendships, the fragility of marriage and, of course, the vicious ferocity of sound parenting.

“Relationships will fray, loyalties will erode… the potential for emotional and bodily injury shall loom.”

Reese who is an executive producer on the series spoke about developing the second season.

“It gives us the opportunity to delve deeper into the lives of these intriguing and intricate Monterey families and bring more of their stories back to the audience who embraced and championed them.”

Making Meryl’s casing even more exciting is the fact Alexander Skarsgård recently dropped the juiciest of bombs, telling People: “I don’t even know if I’m really dead or not. I feel okay right now but we’ll see.”

We can’t wait to see more!
