Veteran entertainment and showbiz reporter Angela Bishop is set to shine on our screens in an exciting new role, this time on long running US drama The Bold and the Beautiful.
After first appearing on the series back in 2017 when the show came down under to visit a number of scenes, Angela is returning to the role of JJ for the first time in six years for a brand-new episode.
Her character, a bubbly and busy event planner from LA is someone who Angela describes as ”completely different” to herself.
”I’m not so good at all that creative stuff so it is a stretch for me to play this character. She [JJ] is very busy, very in demand,” Angela tells TV Week.
”But everyone [the cast] is so welcoming because I’ve been able to meet them and interview them all so many times over the years.
”These guys have up to 20 pages of script to learn a day and I’m just determined that I’m not going to mess up my three lines,” Angela laughs.
Angela has recently returned from the US where she was working at the 2023 Oscars.
(IMAGE: Instagram)Elaborating further on how her cameo came about, Angela said after providing Australian coverage of the series from when it first launched in Australia way back in the early 90s, she had formed a close friendship with show creator and head writer Bradley Bell.
”I was addicted to the show right from the start. Bradley essentially came up to me and said ‘I’ve created a character for you, are you up for it?’ And I said, ‘That would be absolutely amazing’.
”And that’s how JJ was born….”
Given Angela has decades of experience reporting to a camera, currently on 10 News First and Studio 10, we had to ask whether her career in front of the camera had prepared her for acting professionally.
”All of the amazing actors I get to interview are so at the top of their game, they are so good at what they do and I’m nothing compared to them. It’s the fact that they are such professionals that they make me look good.”
Angela says she couldn’t be any more different from her character of JJ if she tried!

”We did a series of stories on Studio 10 a few weeks ago where we interviewed the cast and creatives of the show, and I was speaking with the Supervising Producer Casey Kasprzyk and he actually said that it was time that JJ had a love interest on the show which I just laughed out loud about.
”And he just said ‘come back to me with your suggestions as to who that would be.’
Angela is also dreaming of an acting gig on NCIS: Sydney.
(IMAGE: Instagram)So, given Angela has tipped her toes into the acting world, can we expect her on our screens for any additional shows anytime soon?
”I’m not ashamed to say that I have sent a showreel of my work to the producers of NCIS Sydney just because I think there could be room for a journalist on the show,” Angela excitedly tells us.
She also hinted at some ”exciting stuff” in her future that is ”top secret” at the moment.
