Following the international hoo-ha of the ‘Dundee’ Australian Tourism Campaign and the bitter disappointment that followed when we realised it wasn’t a real film, the entire nation – nay, the whole world has been on the edge of our collective seats, waiting for a credible source to announce the release of a sequel.

Well, it looks like we need wait no longer but, this film may be slightly different than what you were expecting.

You can thank Transmission Films for satisfying your Dundee desires, and it wouldn’t be Dundee without Paul Hogan, the legend himself, returning to the big screen.

The Hoges is set to star in a new film titled the ‘Very Excellent Mr Dundee!’ and it starts filming in July.

There is currently no word on whether those famous faces we were so pleased to see in the tourism campaign, think Chris Hemsworth and Hugh Jackman, will be making an appearance in the film.

In fact, so far there’s little info about the film at all but here’s what we know.

“The Very Excellent Mr Dundee! will be directed by Dean Murphy (director of Strange Bedfellows), and sees Paul Hogan playing himself and on the brink of receiving a Knighthood for services to comedy. “Don’t do anything to mess this up”, his manager tells him. However, despite all his best efforts, the next six weeks sees his name and reputation hilariously destroyed.”

Paul Hogan, recently spoke to PEOPLE about a potential film. “Throughout the past few years, I’ve been thinking about how to bring Dundee to a new generation. I’m excited to introduce the new Crocodile Dundee to the world and look forward to sharing more news about those involved very soon,” he said.

We’re guessing this is the one.

While there’s no release date yet, looks like it’s time to get your ready akubras ready.
