Fans were left reeling when Justin Timberlake issued a public apology to his wife of seven years, Jessica Biel, after he was spotted getting cosy with his co-star, Alisha Wainwright last month.

But it’s believed that the actress and mum-of-one was the driving force behind his statement, as she reportedly felt “embarrassed” by his actions.

Jessica Biel was reportedly the one behind her husband’s public apology.

In images first obtained by The Sun, 38 year-old Justin and his Palmer co-star Alisha, 30, were seen looking intimate at a bar, with Alisha at one stage resting her hand on his knee and holding Justin’s hand.

After 10 days of silence, Justin finally released an apology statement, but according to Us Weekly, the couple are “still united” and “Jessica encouraged Justin to put out his statement on Instagram because she felt embarrassed by his actions and wanted him to take accountability.”

Furthermore, a source close to Jessica and Justin, who share four-year-old son Silas, told PEOPLE magazine that Jessica “is standing by” her man and doesn’t see the slip-up as a reason to break up.

“Obviously Justin drank too much this time, but Jessica believes he didn’t cheat on her,” the source said of the couple, who have been married since 2012.

“What’s most important to her in life is her family and being the best mum to Silas. She’ll never break up her family over something like this.”

In his statement, Justin confessed that while he stays away from gossip as much as he can, he felt it “important to address recent rumours” for the sake of his family.

Whilst the Cry Me A River crooner admitted he displayed “a strong lapse in judgement” he made it clear that “nothing happened” between himself and Alisha.

“I drank way too much that night and I regret my behavior. I should have known better. This is not the example I want to set for my son. I apologize to my amazing wife and family for putting them through such an embarrassing situation,” he penned.

He continued: “I am focused on being the best husband and father I can be. This was not that.”
