With an already impressive property portfolio under their belts, Australia’s golden couple Hamish Blake and Zoe Foster Blake have turned their sights to The Block, with Woman’s Day hearing they’ve got the paddles at the ready to place a winning bid on one of the homes at the auction later this year.

The couple are reported to be ready for auction.

Hamish, 41, and Zoe, 42, are said to have shown keen interest in the show this season, as their former assistant is a contestant, and a well-placed insider tells us they’re so keen to snap it up that they’ve already been for an inspection!

“They know what a good investment The Block houses are – and even though they’ve been living in Sydney for three years now, Melbourne will always be home for them. This would be just the perfect place to stay when they visit. Not to mention, it could potentially help their assistant and dear friend take home the extra $100,000 prize money if they win,” says the source.

Their Sydney home has also featured in Vogue Living.

NOT SO CHARMING

The Block 2023 wrapped filming earlier this month, with the season taking on a Swinging ’50s theme in Hampton on the aptly named Charming Street.

And while each home is expected to rake in millions, bidders need to beware of the displaced neighbourhood they may be buying into. Ever since the announcement The Block would be filming in the area, residents have voiced their concerns about what a reality show could do to their once quaint street.

Slamming the production as “intrusive” and “intimidating”, the residents – some of whom have lived there for decades – denounced the flashy and modernised homes that now tower over their cottages.

Andy Lee has also dipped his toe into the renovation game, with the comedian purchasing this dilapidated mansion in Melbourne.

If the Blake family do choose to purchase one of the homes, they may not get the neighbourly welcome they would have hoped for.

Just recently, Hamish’s best friend Andy Lee was embroiled in a clash with his neighbour after they opposed his $5 million renovation plans in Hawthorn, Melbourne.

More famously, Guy Sebastian’s scuffle with his neighbour last year in Sydney’s Maroubra was so ugly it landed his neighbour in court.
