It’s no secret that just days after claiming his second Wimbledon title Novak Djokovic will celebrate yet another milestone when he marries fiancée Jelena Ristic but why is everybody asking about Andy Murray?
Well according to Serbian news outlets Novak and his bride-to-be are intending to marry in a two-day wedding extravaganza but the most tantalizing titbit of gossip circulating is that Andy Murray is believed to be Djokovic’s best man!
While this sporting bromance might seem strange it actually isn’t so hard to believe.
The tennis aces may act like bitter enemies on the court but they have spent years travelling around the globe together on the same tour so why wouldn’t the Serb and the Scot strike up a friendship over a few quiet Gatorades?
Before Novak and Murray faced each other in the 2013 Wimbledon final the Serb acknowledged his friendship with the Scot and recalled the first time they met as 11-year-old schoolboys at a junior tournament in south-west France.
“It was maybe my first international tournament. I remember his curly hair. That’s all I remember. I remember I had a short visit on the tennis court,” said Djokovic.
“On and off the court we have lots of respect for each other. Always very fair, very honest relationship,” he added.
This friendship makes us ponder other celebrity BBF’s and the star power they brought to their grooms parties on their wedding day.
