Samuel Johnson, beloved Australian actor, has been in hospital since Saturday after he was hit by a car.
His sister Hilde Hinton revealed the news on Monday evening, telling fans via Facebook: "I wish I didn't have to tell you this. Early Saturday night Sam was on his way to visit family when he was accidentally hit by a car."
She added more details in a Facebook post update, shared to their joint charity page, Love My Sister: "Our Ambos got him picked up and tucked away safely in hospital in record time. I followed them in."
"The fantastical medical staff are in overdrive taking care of his sore head."
Sam's sister added that he is now awake and jokingly quipped that he's a little uncertain about his hospital attire.
"He's awake and not too happy that he doesn't have his pants - nobody loves a hospital gown. Hearing his voice is lovely, but can't wait for hugs when it's safe."
She finished the post by promising fans she will keep them updated.
Quickly, the post was filled with comments and reactions from fans of Sam.
More than 62,000 people reacted to the story with shocked or 'sending love' emojis, while more than 9,000 people commented their best wishes for the actor.
"Sending big teddy hugs for a quick recovery. ❤ He'll do anything for attention, but this is just way too much!" One user wrote.
Another said: "Omg I'm so sad to hear this. Thank goodness he is awake. Sending so much love to Sam and to you Hilde. Here's to a speedy recovery Sam."
One also wrote to Hilde: "We obviously all love Sam. He's a special sort. While the hospital is taking care of him, make sure you take care of yourself. Sending much love and here's to a quick recovery. X."
Sam's work in the entertainment industry has spanned decades, with his most recent project being Stan's original series Eden set in New South Wales' Byron Bay.
He also featured on Dancing With The Stars in 2019, which he eventually won.
His dancing skills were one thing, but his personality and loveable nature was the real clincher.
The Gold Logie winner has worked hard on his charity, Love Your Sister since 2012 - he launched it with his late sister Connie, who tragically passed away from cancer in 2017.
The pair nurtured a huge support base for the charity, which has only grown in the years since her death.
Sam's efforts on Dancing With The Stars was understandably for the charity and to support others like his sister.
We hope Sam's recovery continues to be smooth, and in the meantime, perhaps a pair of sweatpants would do well in his hospital bag if any visitors happen to pass through to deliver them...
Get well soon, Sam!
