Salma Hayek’s neighbour ‘justified’ in killing her dog

Police have ruled the neighbour who shot and killed the star’s beloved pooch was within his rights.

Salma Hayek called police when a caretaker at her Washington State ranch found the body of her nine-year-old German Shepherd Mozart.

The dog had a gunshot wound near his heart and had died a “slow and painful” death.

Yesterday, a neighbour confessed to the shooting but said the dog was trespassing on his property, TMZ reports.

The man said Hayek’s dogs frequently came onto his land and attacked his dogs and he fired a pellet gun at them to scare them away. He claims he didn’t mean to kill any of the animals, and police believed him, apparently closing their case.

Salma Hayek has been left devastated after her pet dog Mozart was shot in the heart.

Hayek, 49, revealed her heartbreak on Instagram last week.

“I haven’t posted for a week as I been mourning the death of my dog, Mozart, who I personally delivered out of his mother’s womb. He was found dead in my ranch last Friday with a shot close to his heart,” she wrote.

“I am hoping that the Washington State authorities do justice to this wonderful dog whom in 9 years never bit or attacked anyone, he loved his territory and never strayed away. He was the most loving and loyal companion. He didn’t deserve a slow and painful death,” she said.

Salma’s ranch serves as an animal sanctuary and houses several rescue dogs, horses, alpacas, parrots and other pets.
