Every year on November 15th, the Irwin Family come together to honour the late, great, iconic Steve Irwin.

The day is aptly named Steve Irwin Day.

It’s been 11 years since the Crocodile Hunter was tragically taken from the world too soon, killed by stingray’s barb off the coast of Port Douglas.

Steve’s oldest child Bindi Irwin has led the tributes, sharing a gorgeous photo with her and her dad cuddling a wombat.

“He taught me that we must all treat animals the way we wish to be treated. I think that his advice applies to both animals and people. In order to protect our planet, we must first learn to be kind in every part of life,” the 19-year-old mused.

His son Bob Irwin mused that Steve was the ultimate role model, “He was the greatest Wildlife Warrior, conservationist and dad on the planet.”

Terri took to Twitter to share a hilarious auto-tune song of Steve’s best moments (you can listen to it in the player above!).

Many remember Steve Irwin, 44, as the fearless Crocodile Hunter, but for wife Terri, he was the love of her life.

“To me, Steve was my Prince Charming. He was my happily ever after. I still feel immense love and loyalty to Steve,” the brave mother-of-two previously said of her soulmate.

Terri and Steve’s children, Bindi and Robert, lost their dad and hero when they were just eight and three. And now, Steve Irwin Day, his children and wife are taking a moment once again to honour their father.

19-year-old Bindi shared this adorable picture and said of her dad: “He taught me that we must all treat animals the way we wish to be treated. I think that his advice applies to both animals and people. In order to protect our planet, we must first learn to be kind in every part of life.”

Younger brother Bob posted this family photo. “Happy #SteveIrwinDay So excited to be remembering dad’s legacy with a celebration @australiazoo! He was the greatest Wildlife Warrior, conservationist and dad on the planet.”

Steve’s oldest daughter Bindi says her dad is “always in our hearts.”

Steve and Bindi Irwin

“You’ll be my hero for my entire existence. I love you more than words can describe,” Bindi adds.

Steve’s love for crocodiles began at a tender age. “The first crocodile I ever caught was at nine years of age, and it was a rescue.” Here, he shares a cuddle with a fluffy friend in 1996.

Steve found the love of his life in Terri (nee Raines). After eight months of dating, they tied the knot in June 1992. “We got 14 years of marriage; we had the best most fantastic adventurous wonderful life that you could imagine,” she said of their time together.

“I found Steve’s passion for wildlife and willingness to lay his life on the line so exciting,” says Terri. Watch Steve’s funniest moments in the next slide! Gallery continues after video…

Steve Irwin’s Australia Zoo bloopers

In 1998, Terri and Steve welcomed their first daughter Bindi Sue Irwin.

And she absolutely idolised her daddy! “My daddy was my hero – he was always there for me when I needed him.”

In 2003, the family received another special gift in the shape of the couple’s first son, Robert. Little Bob was just three years old when his dad lost his life.

“It is incredible that we get to carry on where he left off,” says Bob, now 13.

The fearless father sure had a zest for life! “I have no fear of losing my life – if I have to save a koala or a crocodile or a kangaroo or a snake, mate, I will save it.” See how the loss of Steve still affects the Irwin family to this day in the next slide. Gallery continues after the video…
