Oprah Winfrey shuts down Donald Trump

“The one thing on my honour that you can trust, on my honour that will never happen, is me running for office.”

Oprah Winfrey has no intention of running for the White House, and especially not as a potential Vice President to Donald Trump.

Oprah, 61, was asked about her political ambitions after touching down in Australia yesterday, ahead of the ‘An Evening With Oprah’ tour.

Oprah told reporters she was “thrilled” to be back in Australia after five years.

In a statement, she said: “I can’t wait to see everyone again in Australia. I look forward to being reconnected, rejuvenated and re-inspired about what is possible for our lives.”

But when it comes to running alongside Donald Trump, who last week said that he wanted Oprah as his running mate, Oprah said: “Never!”

“The one thing on my honour that you can trust, on my honour that will never happen, is me running for office,” she said.

“I ran into him in a restaurant recently and I said, ‘Donald, are you having a good time out there?’ He said he was having the best time.”

Oprah is not known to be overly close to the leading Democrat candidate, Hillary Clinton.
