Molly Meldrum breaks silence on fall in Thailand

He also reveals his thoughts on the new Molly miniseries.

Molly Meldrum has broken his silence with News Corp about how he’s doing after a recent fall outside a hotel in Bangkok, Thailand.

In the editorial piece written by Molly himself, he reveals that the reason he left to go to Thailand was to escape the growing interest of the new Channel 7 miniseries, Molly, which aired last night.

Despite his nasty slip when stepping out of a taxi, the 73-year-old music guru says he’s “feeling a lot better.”

He wrote, “Thankfully I didn’t have to have back surgery and I’m back at my hotel resting.”

Speaking about the show he was a consulting producer of, Molly admits there was one part he found particularly distressing to watch – his fall off a ladder in 2011 that left him with a fractured skull.

“The scene where Sam [Johnson] falls off the roof was particularly hard to watch. I had to turn away when that was on,” tells Molly.

“And it was really hard to watch the bits where I’m unconscious at the Alfred Hospital.”

While leaving the country was intended as a way for Molly to bring attention back to the actors of the show and not himself, Molly admits that didn’t go as planned.

“They should be getting all the attention, not me,” he says. “They’ve all done great work, as did all the people behind the scenes.”

“Everyone who has seen it loves it… I really hope the public enjoy it.”
