After learning that Mariah Carey and James Packer had officially called it quits on their 16-month relationship last week, more and more details of their split seem to be pouring out of Tinseltown.
Now, according to Page 6, sources close to Mariah have revealed that the 46-year-old songstress is firmly laying the blame for the couple’s break-up on the Church of Scientology.
Sources close to Camp Mimi allege that James’ business manager, Tommy Davis, who used to be a spokesperson for the Church, has come in between the once-besotted pair.
Not only that, but these insiders are suggesting that Tommy has taken a hold of James’ finances and also hints that he has put the casino mogul on what the Church refer to as “purification rundown” – a detoxification program – and that Tommy warned him off the pop diva.
“Mariah is suspicious of Tommy, who has been managing James’ finances, and she suspects he is controlling him,” the source told the publication.

James’ insiders strongly refute theses claims, stating that “this isn’t true” and that “James is not a part of the Church anymore”.
These sources also attribute Mariah’s excessive spending to be the catalyst for James’ calling time on their relationship.
“His relationship with Mariah ended because she is a diva,” James’ insider explains.
“She has an entourage around her, and she’s filming a TV show, which is a crazy world that James doesn’t want to be involved with.”
This new revelation involving the Church comes after it was reported that 49-year-old James asked Mariah to leave his yacht in Greece in September, then later told her to move out of his home in Calabasas, California.
