According to a shock new report from TMZ, Amber filed the paper work just three days after Johnny’s mother’s death.

TMZ claim the star cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split and is requesting spousal support. The website also alleges the stars did not sign a prenup, meaning Amber could be entitled to a stake of Johnny’s reported $USD400 million fortune.

But it looks like the father-of-two is going to put up a fight with TMZ claiming Johnny has “filed his response through his lawyer, Laura Wasser. He is asking the judge to reject Amber’s claim for spousal support.”

Neither Amber or Johnny have commented on the split.

The couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in the Bahamas in February last year and often sung each others praises.

Last November the Pirates of the Caribbean actor told E! News he was a “lucky guy” to have Amber as his wife.

“We connect on a lot of levels,” Johnny gushed, mentioning that “the first things that really got me was she’s an aficionado of the blues.”

“I would play a song, some old obscure blues song, and she knew what it was,” he raved.

One of their last outings together at the Art Of Elysium’s 9th Annual Heaven Gala in LA.

Meanwhile the Danish Girl star admitted to Elle last year that she was still very independent.

“Nothing is a dramatic change. We’ve been together for a long time now, so it’s been a fairly organic process. I have a fiercely independent spirit,” she explained to the publication.

To make matters worse, as Johnny deals with the personal grief of losing his mother and the heartbreak over the demise of his marriage, the father-of-two is currently in the middle of the publicity trail for his latest film, Alice Through the Looking Glass.

According to ET, Johnny’s mum Better Sue Palmer sadly passed away on Friday, May 20 after battling a long illness.

Speaking of his mum in 2015, Johnny said she’d instilled him with strong resilience.

“She’d come from nothing but hillbillies and she said, ‘OK, here’s the deal. Next time anybody puts their hands on you, pick up a brick and lay them out,'” he shared with the Nottingham Post.

The pair have only been married for 15 months.

Recently, Johnny and Amber’s marriage has been plagued with drama.

Last month they appeared in a Queensland court over the infamous dog smuggling case.

The pair pleaded guilty to falsifying quarantine documents over the smuggling of their two Yorkshire terriers into the country last year while Johnny was filming Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

Despite getting off without a conviction, they were forced to film a bizarre and humiliating apology video which inevitably went viral for all the wrong reasons.

Dramatic few months: Amber and Johnny make their way out of a Queensland court.

Johnny was previously in a long-term relationship with French actress Vanessa Paradis for 14 years before going their separate ways in 2012.

They share two children together, daughter Lily-Rose Depp, 16, and son Jack, 13.

While Amber, who came out as a lesbian in 2010 at a GLAAD event, dated actress Tasya van Ree for three years before getting together with Johnny.
