Rowling penning Harry Potter spin-off trilogy

Harry Potter author JK Rowling is writing a trilogy of new films based on her 2001 magic textbook.
JK Rowling, shown at a London fundraising event last year, is set to adapt her textbook into three films.

The 48-year-old author and Warner Bros agreed to the big-screen adaptation of her 2001 fictitious textbook used by students at Harry Potter’s Hogwarts School Of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

The series was first announced in September as a project, but Warner Bros CEO Kevin Tsujihara told the New York Times on Saturday that the films would be a trilogy.

Rowling will write the screenplays, which will be set in New York and follow “magizoologist” Newt Scamander.

There are no details regarding castings or a release date.
