Jim Carrey responds to “evil” lawsuit over wrongful death of girlfriend Cathriona White

The actor his hit back in a powerful statement after the estranged husband of the late Cathriona White claims Jim caused her fatal overdose.

Jim Carrey is being sued by the estranged husband of his girlfriend late Cathriona White.

Mark Burton, who filed a wrongful death suit against the actor, believes Jim is to blame for the fatal overdose that killed her.

The death was officially ruled a suicide.

The lawsuit comes almost exactly a year after Cathriona passed away.

“This is a case about Jim Carrey using his immense wealth and celebrity status to illegally obtain and distribute highly addictive and, in this case, deadly, controlled substances,” the lawsuit claims.

But Jim wasn’t about to take the claims lying down. The actor has hit back, calling the allegations “heartless” and vowing to stand up to the “evil”.

The coroner ruled Cathriona’s death a suicide.

He continued: “What a shame. It would be easy for me to get back in a room with this man’s lawyer and make this go away, but there are moments in life when you have to stand up and defend your honor against the evil in this world,” he said in a statement to Us Weekly.

“I will not tolerate this heartless attempt to exploit me or the woman I loved. Cat’s troubles were born long before I met her, and sadly her tragic end was beyond anyone’s control.

” I really hope someday soon people will stop trying to profit from this and let her rest in peace.”

Jim was heartbroken as he carried her coffin.

According to the lawsuit, it’s alleged that Jim gave the prescription drugs to his 30-year-old girlfriend even though he was aware that she was prone to bouts of depression and had thoughts of suicide.

Cathriona died from an overdose on September 24, 2015.

Meanwhile the actor has caused a bit of a stir at an Emmys after party.

The comedian gave the guests at the Showtime celebrations quite the scare with his trademark erratic behaviour.

President of the network David Nevins had been toasting the cable network’s nominees including Claire Danes, William H. Macy and Jon Voight when a bearded man began “screaming David’s name while standing on a seat cushion and banging the glass door with two fists,” a source revealed.

Jim freaked out a few Emmys party-goers.

Jim looks remarkedly different from his Truman Show days, now sporting a massive bushy beard and greying hair.

But although some of the guests had been alarmed, David was apparently quick to notice who the troublemaker was.

“Thanks for that, Jim,” he said, reportedly causing nervous laughter to sweep through the room.
