James Stewart has shared the sweetest photos of his daughter Scout on of her first day of primary school, and we can barely contain our emotions!

Taking to Instagram, the actor — who rose to fame as Jake Barton on the hit drama Packed To The Rafters — shared two pictures of the five-year-old as she stepped into the next chapter of her life.

In the first, little Scout is pictured in her checkered school uniform and perfectly polished shoes. The second, shows the youngster gripping tightly onto her mum, Jessica Marais, and dad as they arrive at the school.

“First day of school! So much love, so many tears. 🤦🏽‍♂️❤️,” he captioned the snaps, neglecting to specify just who had been crying!

Cute as a button!

James and Jess, who split after six years together, both attended their daughter’s first day of big school.

The 43-year-old’s followers were quick to comment on the cute as a button upload, a milestone which struck a chord with many fellow parents.

“She looks like you. I remember those days and they come and go so far. Enjoy every moment,” one wrote, while another added: “Already? Where has the last few years gone!”

A third noted: “Scout cannot be starting school already??! 😱 She’s such a gorgeous little girl! Oh the feels! I remember the first day with all my kids. Such a nerve-wracking, yet wondrous time! I hope Scout had a great day and Mum & Dad handled it okay 😄💖”

James and Jessica, who fell in love on the set of Packed To The Rafters, called it quits on their relationship in 2015 after six years together — three years after they welcomed gorgeous Scout into the world.

“I can’t believe Jess and I are already those parents standing at the school gate,” James recently told TV WEEK.

“That’s a big thing. This is the first step of Scout’s independence, and it absolutely kills me. I have to put on a brave face.”

The subject of his beloved daughter starting “big school” was enough to bring tears to his eyes.

“It’s an emotional time,” he admitted, before explaining just why he’s so upset.

“You know what it is?” he said. “It’s realising you can never always be there for them and that you just hope they make the right decisions in life.”

“Right now, I’m making the right decisions for Scout. I’m doing everything for her – for example, if we’re at home and she grabs the wrong toothpaste or toothbrush, I’ll tell her.”

“I know that sounds silly, but it’s that guidance bit I’ll miss. Now, it’s not mine so much – that’s the hardest part.”

James added that he’s relished every moment he’ spent with his daughter since she was born.

“Being a dad has brought me so much joy,” the actor said.

In particular, he’s enjoyed teaching Scout about the important things in life, such as humility, compassion, responsibility and gratitude.

“Kindness is the big one we talk about,” James said. “If you think about it, everything stems from that. Honesty stems from that, friendship stems from that, being good to others stems from that – and being good to yourself too.”

Scout, we wish you the very best of luck as you start this exciting new chapter!
