Australian television royalty and host of Hey Hey it’s Saturday, Daryl Somers stepped out at the Herald Sun 25 Year Anniversary Party in Melbourne earlier this week looking unrecognisable.

The celebrated TV icon still knows how to rock a suit and tie, with his signature smile in check.

Daryl, now 64, captained nearly three decades worth of Saturday nights on the long-running Channel Nine variety show, which debuted in 1971.

The beloved show faced a few major obstacles leading to its axing in 1999.

After ten years without Ossie Ostrich, Plucka Duck, and of course, Daryl Somers, the network revived the show in 2009 for a two episode special. The success of the reunion saw the show return for one more year in 2010.

During his time on Hey Hey, Daryl was the recipient of three Gold Logie Awards.

Since the show’s end the star has dabbled in hosting Dancing With The Stars and most recently starred in the 2014 Harvest Rain Theatre Company production of Guys and Dolls, portraying Nicely Nicely Johnson.
