Celebrity tributes flow in fast for Paul Walker

News of the horrific car crash that killed US actor Paul Walker has rocked the world.

Tributes from co-stars are pouring in for the 40-year-old actor, who died in Los Angeles on Saturday when the Porsche he was a passenger in crashed into a pole and burst into flames. The star, who was leaving a charity event, was in the middle of filming his seventh movie in the hit Fast And The Furious series.

Production for the latest film, which began in September, has halted. Paul and several other cast members had been planning to fly to Atlanta, Georgia, to resume filming this week.

Paul’s leading on-screen lady Jordana Brewster took to Twitter to share her despair, the first of many crew members who continue to flood social media with messages of respect. “Paul was pure light. I cannot believe he is gone,” she wrote.

Co-star and rapper Ludacris posted a picture of the “Fast family” sitting at a table holding hands before a meal together. Above the photo he added a dedication to Paul: “Your humble spirit was felt from the start. Wherever you blessed your presence, you always left a mark. We were like brothers and our birthdays are only one day apart. Now you will forever hold a place in our hearts @paulwalker legacy will live on forever. R.I.P.”

“Brother, I will miss you very much. I am absolutely speechless. Heaven has gained a new Angel. Rest in peace,” co-star Vin Diesel captioned beneath a picture of the two of them on Instagram.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson took to Twitter to share his condolence to Paul’s family and friends: “’All my strength, love & faith to the Walker family during this heartbreaking time. We find our strength in his light. Love you brother.”

A host of other stars from around the world have been paying tribute to the handsome actor, who visited Australia in the past to promote his movies.

Singer Usher posted on his Facebook page: “RIP Paul Walker… our prayers go out to his family and friends. #gone2soon.”

Ryan Philippe, who stared with Paul in the movie Flags Of Our Fathers, said: “Paul was a good dude. Conscientious & not caught up in Hollywood. He knew there was more to life and lived like it. Nice to know you brotha.”

Paul’s Into The Blue co-star Jessica Alba tweeted: “#RIPPaulWalker – he was a lovely person – so sweet and grounded. My heart goes out to his family.”

Paul leaves behind his 15-year-old daughter Meadow to one-time girlfriend Rebecca McBrain.

Police investigating his death suspect speed may have been a factor in the fatal car crash.
