According to Aussie brow stylist Melanie Marris, regular professional brow appointments are one of the most important beauty treatments to add into your monthly maintenance regimen.

“Defining your brows helps to bring symmetry to the face and accentuate your facial features,” she says.

Once your brows are groomed to perfection, it’s time for the finishing touch. A good brow product should define your shape, fill in any areas that need extra help, and give a natural yet full finish.

“For those who are new to filling their brows, a pencil is great as the buildable formula means you can’t go too OTT,” says Melanie.

Make small strokes that mimic the way your hairs fall until you reach your desired finish. For a more defined and glam look, use an angled brush with a gel or cream formula.

Once you’ve filled them in, use a clear brow gel to hold them in place.

There are many different methods to keeping your brows in check, and the one that’s right for you will depend on your desired shape and finish.

“I personally always recommend booking a consult with a reputable, professional brow stylist to have your brows assessed and see what options you have,” says Melanie.

Want to achieve that defined Instagram brow? Threading or waxing will create neat edges, perfect for a Kardashian-inspired look. Just be sure to apply a dab of aloe vera or a gentle soothing balm to the area following treatment to calm any redness.

If full bushy brows are more your thing, use a pair of slanted tweezers to pluck any stray hairs, being sure to keep the edges a little uneven. For longer hairs, simply brush your brows up and trim the ends of any that reach above the natural browline.

Applying a serum while you sleep will help nurse brows back to health. Look for formulas that contain ingredients such as biotin, which plays an important role in hair growth.

Apply directly onto brows with a brush, massage in and let it get to work. Winning!

“I put [castor oil] on my brows and scalp once or twice a week. It’s definitely made my hair thicker,” says the actress.
