On holidays with Sam and Snezana in Singapore

The gorgeous couple recently returned from their first overseas trip together as a family and shared their happy snaps and top travel tips from Singapore with us.

Sam Wood and Snezana Markoski, along with Snezana’s daughter Eve, recently returned from their first overseas trip as a family to Singapore and spoke to The Weekly Online about their adventure.

“We had so much fun exploring, relaxing and having quality time together,” Sam said.

“It’s a great place to just let your inner child run loose and relax, laugh and giggle with your precious little ones,” Snezana agreed.

Here, they share their favourite snaps from their trip and Snezana reveals her go-to places in Singapore.

It will no doubt leave you itching to go travelling!

Haji Lane, Singapore’s narrowest street was one place we all enjoyed for different reasons. This street is lined with hipster bars, quaint cafes, yummy restaurants and some seriously great stores. You can pick up a stylish new outfit or cool bits and pieces for your home. If you’re after a gift for someone who you know isn’t a fan of the souvenir fridge magnet (boooooring) this is one of the places to go.”

“Kampong Glam – This area is an amazing little culture pocket in the Arab quarter with the Sultan Mosque standing tall and strong behind the hustle and bustle of Singapore. From the architecture to the exotic foods and fragrances, this place really is a delight to the senses. Eve especially loved creating her own fragrance from an authentic perfumery.”

“If you love colour, then Little India is one neighbourhood you need to visit. The stores overflow with colourful fabrics and beautiful fragrant leis are being made at the speed of light in the street stalls. Eve particularly loved getting a henna tattoo to show her friends. As a lover of art, she was absolutely mesmerized as she watched the intricate pattern appear like magic.”

“If you’re hungry and you’re wanting something that is authentic, tastes amazing and cheap, then look no further than Satay Street. The street is blocked off at night and comes alive with the smell of the smokey satay grills. All three of us love street food so this was right up our alley. There is a huge selection of traditional food to choose from and taste. Whether you love your red meat, white meat, seafood or just feel like a vegie dish this is one place you need to visit. P.s be prepared to smell like a grill afterwards!”

“We highly recommend you drop by Open Farm Community if you are after a bite to eat and are looking for something that is bursting with flavour and freshness. They have a gorgeous vegie patch and herb garden, so that you can see where the yummy fresh ingredients in your meals and cocktails come from. This is a really is a unique garden-to-plate experience.

Ohh and the dessert… YUM! Sam made the mistake of waiting for his food to settle before he tucked into dessert… silly man! When it comes to dessert, when Eve and I are involved, you snooze, you lose buster!”

“The jungle breakfast at Singapore Zoo

is a must; great for both young and old. Seeing the beautiful orangutans interacting with each other while they too enjoy their breakfast is such an unforgettable experience.”

“Truly breathtaking! Yes it’s man made but I think this is what makes it so unique. The Gardens

are incredibly enchanting. I felt like a child walking through, wishing I was a fairy that lived amongst the flowers and trees.

The Garden Rhapsody Light and Sound show is something you must see. The Avatar like supertrees are beautiful and we highly recommend you take the walk amongst the treetops as that was definitely a highlight for all of us. We were lucky enough to do this walk at dusk and witness the gardens change from day to night. The view is indescribable and a photographers dream.”

This is a place we suggest you block out a full day for. You can spend the entire day at Universal Studios and be entertained the whole time. The kids will love this and so will you. After a day of running around and going on rides the kids will get back to the hotel and fall asleep in a second like little angels. Mummy time!”

Chinatown has beautifully decorated street fronts with the trademark lanterns hanging across the street from building to building. A great place to get souvenirs and visit the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple. There is no better place to be brave and taste durian fruit known by many for its pungent stench. Personally, we hated it but you gotta try these things.”

“What can I say? The W hotel was very luxurious and rockstar-like if you ask Eve. The facilities are impressive with a beautiful Spa for pampering, a large pool with fun pool cushions which Eve wouldn’t get off (or share) and a gym, which we naturally made use of…Sam more than me of course! There are also bars and restaurants with a resident DJ in the hotel lobby. This hotel has adjoining family-friendly rooms, which are great. Especially if you’re like me and the mere thought of having your child in a separate hotel room is enough to give you a heart attack. The rooms are very impressive and I can’t wait to stay there again.”

You’ve been peeling post-its wrong

Prepare for your mind to be blown.

Life (or maybe just work) is about to get a whole lot easier.

Blogger Martin Schapendonk shared his magical sorcery of peeling post-its in a way that makes it come out straight.

That’s right, no annoying curl.

According to Schapendonk, we’ve been failing by peeling it from the bottom up, when we should be peeling it from the side.

Here’s the correct way:

Mariah Carey’s sister makes desperate plea to singer

This comes after their brother labelled Mariah an “evil witch”.

Mariah Carey’s sister Alison has called out to her sibling in a desperate for help surrounding her health.

Scroll down for video

She posted a video obtained by Daily Mail directly addressing Mariah, saying: “Mariah, I love you and I desperately need your help. Please don’t abandon me like this.”

The songstress hasn’t spoken to her sister, who is a recovering drug addict, former prostitute and also HIV positive, since 1994 when Mariah married Tommy Mottola.

This comes after their brother Morgan told The Sun Mariah was an “evil witch” for not helping Alison with her health care.

Last year Alison was put on a respirator and managed to pull through, but she is now scheduled to undergo brain and spinal surgery – something Morgan believes is lifesaving treatment.

“Your sister is dying and she is struggling and where are you? You think you are so fabulous, but you are a witch,” Morgan said.

He also cast doubt on her relationship with James Packer.

“I don’t even think Mariah is in love with James, she’s only in love with herself. She is evil,” he said. “She has always been that way. It’s her $7 million engagement ring she is in love with.”

“It is so tragic that while she is out flashing her big diamond ring to anyone who will pay attention, she can’t lift a finger to help her dying sister,” he said.

According to Morgan, when their father Alfred Carey died in 2002, Alison inherited $1.6 million and also set up trust funds for her kids.

The remaining money has gone, spent on her drug addiction.

Margot Robbie got a little too physical when filming Tarzan…

During filming for the movie The Legend of Tarzan, Margot Robbie – who plays Jane Porter, accidentally punched leading man Alexander Skarsgard in the face during a steamy sex scene! How awks!

Director David Yates told Entertainment Weekly, “They’re doing this love scene together, and I said [to Margot], “Just slap Alex while you’re making love, just kind of give him a punch.”‘ Yikes… this sex scene sounds quite intense!

Turns out, the punch was a little harder than expected, and Margot left poor Alex with a bruise!

“It was sort of an earthy, sensual moment of her enjoying sex with Alex, and the only bruise he picked up during the entire shoot was probably that punch from Margot.” Oops!

David says that he knew Margot was the perfect actress to take on the qualities of Jane.

“It was very important that we didn’t want it to feel archaic or dated, where it’s like, tough guy has to save the poor girl. You have to feel that she’s strong and independent, and when you cast Margot, you’ll definitely get that,” he says.

Not to toot our own horn, but it’s probably because she’s an Aussie!

Prince William to the rescue!

The Royal proved he’s not just a handsome face when he rescued an unconscious tree surgeon.

The future king proved he’s not just a handsome face when he and his colleagues rescued an unconscious tree surgeon after a tree he was working on fell on top of him.

But it turns out, when 37-year-old Jim Schembri came to, he didn’t even recognise the prince!

Will held Jim’s head as he was being treated, and flew him to a local hospital by the East Anglia Air Ambulance, the charity William works for as an air ambulance pilot.

Jim joked about the incident when talking to Good Morning Britain: “It wasn’t until they were actually loading me into the helicopter and I said ‘Willsy better not be flying this thing’ and he turned around and said ‘Oh, I’ve been holding your head for the last thirty minutes’ that it clicked,” he said.

“And then I said, ‘Oh you better come and see me later’.”

Ever the gentleman, William did. He checked up on Jim in the trauma room, where it was discovered he’d suffered a dislocated shoulder and hip. Luckily, he’s now full recovered.

We’re dreaming of the day we can be rescued by the prince…

Designer creates the world’s first thigh gap jewellery

At a glance, it could be the most offensive thing on the internet. But there's more to the story.

At a glance, Soo Kyung Bae’s new jewellery line ‘TGap’ could be the most offensive thing on the internet but thankfully the Singaporean designer’s bejewelled collection has a far more serious message behind it.

This week, TGap’s eye-catching advertising campaign made headlines when it showcased an assortment of dainty accessories that were designed to dangle between one’s thigh-gap – the space between the legs of the super-slim – in a bid to accentuate the area but thankfully, the collection is not really a thing.

The fictional festoons are part of a well-orchestrated publicity stunt that actually sees potential buyers re-routed to a website that aims to educate them about the dangers of trends like the thigh-gap, and encourage them to celebrate what’s in their heads, rather than the distance between their legs.

TGap customers can get all the way to the fake e-checkout with 18K gold-plated sterling silver pieces and priced from $175 to $195 – before the ruse is revealed.

“TGap Jewellery is a fictional company that sells jewelleries designed for thigh gaps,” the website’s message reads to nascent consumers. “It is launched to catalyse a debate on unrealistic body image social media portrays.”

The designer told Dezeen that the TGap line was “created in the hopes of sparking questions.”

“Thigh gap represents one of the first few trends regarding body ideals the media has popularised,” said Soo Kyung Bae. “It clearly demonstrates media’s power on influencing one’s perception of body image.”

“By using outrageous products, I hope to bring a provocative jolt that leads us to ponder and reflect upon what we are like as a society and the absurd things we value and obsess over – as well as how this creates unnecessary pressure for women and girls.”

Highlighting HEALTH over “thinspiration”, now there are some real body “goals”, right?

Former Neighbours star sexually assaulted 16 young boys

He tricked the boys by making them think they were taking part in a screen test for a low-budget film.

Disgraced actor Jeremy Kewley got away with sexually abusing young boys for two decades.

Kewley, who appeared in McLeod’s Daughters and Neighbours tricked the boys by making them think they were taking part in a screen test for a low-budget film, about a father who kills his sons.

During the ‘screen tests’ Kewley dressed his victims in Lycra and stretched the fabric over their genitalia in order to zoom in his camera.

The county court of Victoria heard that most of Kewley’s victims were assaulted in 2011 at his home in Brighton.

Kewley touched his victims inappropriately over their costumes while wrestling, strangling and kissing them. Meanwhile, their unsuspecting parents waited downstairs.

Some of Kewley’s victims cried in court as they described the lasting impact of the 55-year-old’s actions.

Kewley has pleaded guilty to 19 charges, including indecent acts with a child under 16, indecent assault and making and possessing child pornography.

He is due to be sentenced in May.
