NSW Traffic and Highway Patrol Command boss John Hartley warned some mothers may be having more than two wines at lunch. He said high blood alcohol readings indicated several mums were breaking the law.
“That does concern me greatly. Mothers think they will get away because police won’t be around,” he told news.com.au.
Last week, 2 NSW women were charged with drink driving offences near school zones. One was actually on the school run with kids in the car when she was caught with a blood alcohol reading of 0.132 in the Southern Highlands. The legal limit is 0.05.
Another mother from Queensland was more than 4 times over the limit when she drove to a day care centre to pick up kids.
Research from the University of Western Sydney found that a third of women entering middle age are abusing alcohol.
A stark reminder we should never flout the recommended guidelines.
