Sadly, her illness has since resulted in Kate being charged for driving under the influence of drugs.
The Daily Telegraph‘s Sydney Confidential reports the 29-year-old was pulled over for a random breath test in Sydney’s Surry Hills back in March and an oral swab revealed she had illicit substances in her system.
Kate was then arrested after another test showed methamphetamines were in her blood.
Speaking to the publication, the singer’s manager explained Dave Wilkins explained: “Unfortunately Kate has been suffering from addiction for quite a long time and unfortunately right now she has relapsed.”
“It is really unfortunately after all the hard work she has done to get herself back on track.” The star will front court on July 31.
Over the years, Kate has spoken openly about her struggles with weight, body image and substance abuse. At her heaviest, she tipped the scales at 127-kilograms, until she went under the knife to have a gastric sleeve fitted.
In January this year Kate told Woman’s Day she was feeling better than ever as she stood proud in her first ever bikini at a healthy 61kg.
“It was an especially proud moment for me and a huge achievement,” she mused at the time.
However, just a few months later she told Kyle and Jackie O she would take “everything and anything” before admitting “I was out of control in every aspect of my life” following her departure from the Young Divas band in 2008.
