The poignant visit will take place nearly 20 years after William’s mother tragically died in the City of Lights.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are set to make a two-day trip to Paris, next month. The trip abroad will mark the first official royal visit by the couple to Paris since the untimely death of William’s mother, Princess Diana.

Wills was just 15 and his brother Prince Harry only 12, when Princess Diana was tragically killed in a car crash in Paris on 31 August 1997. She was just 36 years old.

While the tour will be the Duke and Duchess’s first official visit to Paris, William has previously travelled to Paris on a handful of unofficial trips.

Though, any trip to the French capital is undoubtedly an emotional experience for the second in line to the throne.

The royal pair, who were asked by the British government to visit the city, are set to attend a series of official events, including a reception for young French leaders and a formal dinner at the residence of Her Majesty’s Ambassador.

Unsurprisingly, the duo who have been blissfully married for six years, have also managed to pencil-in some time for themselves in the City of Love.

On March 18, Wills and Kate have plans to attend the France v Wales rugby match at the Stade de France.

The upcoming visit will take place next month.

In a statement released on Monday, February 13, Kensington Palace said: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will undertake an official two-day visit to Paris on 17th and 18th March. Their Royal Highness’ visit is at the request of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Full details of the visit will be announced in due course.”

The trip will be eagerly awaited by royal enthusiasts and trendsetters alike, who will turn out in their droves to see what sartorial chances Kate takes in the fashion capital of the world.

Just last week, Kate looked like a Hollywood regular as she attended the 2017 BAFTA Awards.

All eyes were on Kate at the prestigious awards ceremony.

Accompanied by her hubby Prince William, the 35-year-old chose to wear a custom-made, floor-length gown from British designer Alexander Mcqueen, who also designed her wedding dress in 2011.

Despite the wintery conditions in London (it snowed over the weekend!) Kate braved the cold with an off-the-shoulder gown embellished with green and violet flowers, and satin ribbon detailing.

The gown was just as gorgeous from the back.

The Duchess prefers doing her own her makeup for events… and may we say she did a fantastic job!

She completed her look with the Alexander McQueen Heart Clasp Box Clutch in black satin, an elaborate diamond bracelet and, to add an extra touch of glamour to the special night, a pair of dazzling pear-shaped diamond earrings reportedly on loan from the Queen.

Always with her eye on the details, Catherine chose a low chignon for her brunette hair, with loose tendrils framing her face.

We can’t wait to see what Catherine will chose to wear on the streets of Old Pa-ree!
