Brad Pitt showed true compassion when he spent the day with singer Chris Cornell’s two children in the wake of his untimely death.
The Allied actor, who considered himself a close pal to the Soundgarden musician, escorted kids Christopher, 11, and Toni, 12, on a trip to Universal Studios on May 31, just days after they laid their father to rest.
“Brad definitely seemed like he was there for the kids to have a good time,” an onlooker tells E! News.
“He was very accommodating to them and thankful to everybody at each attraction for helping them.”
The trio were spotted by pedestrians making their way through The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Simpsons Land and were seen enjoying the Jurassic Park-themed water ride.
“Brad was gracious and polite, but seemed intent on making sure the kids were happy.” The insider went on, adding: “They all seemed comfortable together, like Brad was effectively taking their mind off of things for a few hours with a fun day at the park.”
It’s been a tough couple of weeks for the Cornell family.
A memorial service was held for the late rocker on May 26, one week after he was discovered unresponsive in the bathroom with a band around his neck at the MGM Grand Detroit. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Though his death was ruled as a suicide, Chris’ wife of 13-years, Vicky Cornell, has said she believed the side-effects of the prescription anti-anxiety drug Atvian may have played a part.
“When we spoke before the show, we discussed plans for a vacation over Memorial Day and other things we wanted to do,” Vicky recalled in a statement, adding that his manner had changed dramatically the next time they spoke.
“When we spoke after the show, I noticed he was slurring his words; he was different. When he told me he may have taken an extra Ativan or two, I contacted security and asked that they check on him,” she continued.
“What happened is inexplicable and I am hopeful that further medical reports will provide additional details. I know that he loved our children and he would not hurt them by intentionally taking his own life.”
The family are still waiting on toxicology reports, which may provide them with the answers they so desperately seek.
