BREAKING: A little boy has been shot in a Sydney home overnight

Our thoughts are with the boy and his family during this difficult time.

A five-year-old boy is, thankfully, in a stable condition after he was left injured from a gunshot wound in his home in Sydney’s south overnight.

According to KidSpot, police were told of the shooting when the boy, from Lurnea, was admitted to Liverpool Hospital with a gunshot wound on his hip last night.

It is believed that following the shooting, the young boy’s parents drove him from their home in Morison Drive to the hospital, where he was treated for his injury.

They did not call an ambulance to tend to their son’s wounds, and, as 7News report, are allegedly refusing to help police with their enquiries.

As reported by Nine News, detectives have stated that they are yet to learn of the reason why the boy was shot, but that the gunshot that wounded him was fired from outside of the home.

However, Aileen Ali, a neighbour of the family, told the ABC that she didn’t hear a shot being fired, but did here someone “yelling”.

“All I heard was some yelling and car doors slamming and then it went quiet,” she explains.

“I stood at the front door to see if I could hear any more but it just went quiet after that.”

“It sounded like a woman yelling. I couldn’t make out what they were saying.”

Following the shooting, the young boy’s parents drove him from their home in Morison Drive to Liverpool hospital, where he was treated for his injury.

They apparently did not call an ambulance to tend to their son’s wounds, and as 7News states, are refusing to help police with their enquiries.

A crime scene has since been set up at the residence.

The family car is also being forensically examined, but police say that this is a routine procedure.
