Julie Bishop’s Mid-Winter ball dress cost $32,000

Who said the government is out of touch?

Remember when you splurged on that dress for that important dinner? You felt a little guilty, but I mean, you had to make a good impression and you’ll definitely wear it again?

We’re pretty sure Julie Bishop had the same emotions buying her dress for the Mid-Winter Ball. I mean what’s $32,000 between friends?

Wait a minute – $32,000? As in, about half of the average Australian’s yearly income?

Oh … cool.

Price aside, Ms Bishop looked damn good in the floor-length Rachel Gilbert design that costs the same as a new car.

However, she now faces the same predicament as every other woman whose favourite outfit has been splashed all over social media – when will she be able to wear it again?

Our advice is don’t be afraid to rock it at all times. $32,000 is a lot of dosh – you want to get your money’s worth. We fully support wearing it to Macca’s drive through dinners, AFL matches, work, weddings to upstage the bride, netflix binges – literally whenever and wherever you can.

To be honest, we can’t believe the government has been accused of being out of touch with the people. This dress surely would have stood up to the pub test.

Since we’re on the topic of interesting outfit choices, Barnaby Joyce donned an akubra and a stock-whip to the ball, proving that he refuses to rest until every Australian has moved out to Tamworth and we stop complaining about that pesky housing affordability crisis.

After he demonstrated his whip-cracking abilities, some hilarious guy asked: “Is that for Tony?”

Pair all of this with Malcolm’s Donald Trump impersonation and it looks like the Mid-Winter Ball was quite the party.
