Boy, 12, appears in Sydney court charged with raping girl, 6

A 12-year-old boy who has been charged with raping a six-year-old girl at a northern beaches primary school has appeared in Sydney’s Children’s Court.

The Sydney Morning Herald is reporting on the case:

*The boy, who was supported by his parents during a brief appearance on Thursday, did not enter any pleas to the charges.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is accused of having sexual intercourse with the girl earlier this year.

He is also accused of two counts of aggravated indecency in company.

According to court documents, the alleged offences occurred between 8am and 4pm, between June 24 and July 1.

The case has been referred to the Department of Public Prosecutions, and the matter is next due to go before court in November.*

The SMH adds that the boy’s co-accused, also 12, faced court last month and formally entered pleas of not guilty. He was charged with three counts of aggravated indecency in company, two counts of sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 10 and one count of indecent assault.

The two boys were arrested at Chatswood police station in September after a two-week investigation.
