Details of 2017 PetStock's Pet Adoption Day

Every year, about 110,000 dogs and 120,000 cats remain orphans, unclaimed in shelters across the country.

If you’re considering adding an animal to your family then today (Sunday, February 5) – Pet Adoption Day – is the time to do it.

Rescue pet organisations will visit NSW PETstock stores from 10am-2pm with fur babies looking for their forever home. It’s a chance for you to get acquainted with potential pets, have a snuggle and get to know their temperate to see if they’ll work in your family.

“Our goal is to turn heartbreak into hope for orphaned pets. If just one in five pet seekers chose to adopt a pet instead of shop, we could end pet homelessness Australia wide,” says PetRescue Co-founder Vickie Davy.

All adopted pets across Australia come desexed, vaccinated, treated for parasites and have had a comprehensive veterinary and behaviour assessment.

“PetRescue figures show the adoption of pets is increasing 38 per cent year-on-year, demonstrating how saving every homeless pet in Australia is possible,” says PETstock Chief Executive Officer, Shane Young. “Last National Pet Adoption Day saw at least 400 pets find forever homes and we’re hoping to increase on this figure this February.”
