A supermarket in Germany has removed all imported groceries from shelves to highlight intolerance

This is what a supermarket would look like without imported goods.

The Edeka supermarket in Hamburg conducted a radical stunt to make a point about racism.

The grocery store removed all foreign products from its shelves for one day.

As well as removing products, the store was filled with messages like: “this shelf is quite boring without variety,” plus, “our selection knows borders today” and “so empty is a shelf without foreigners”.

One twitter user said:

“Diversity day. EDEKA sold only German products. The shelves look like Cuba.”

An Edeka spokesman said:

“Edeka stands for diversity, and we produce a wide range of food in our assortment, which is produced in the different regions of Germany.”

“But it is together with products from other countries that we create the unique diversity that our customers value.”

“We are delighted to have received a lot of positive feedback regarding Saturday’s action.”

One shopper managed to capture the shelves in a clip which he posted to Instagram.
