Sam Frost will be the first to tell you that 2016 was simply not her year.

Following her split from Bachelorette boyfriend Sasha Mielczarek, along with the news her morning breakfast show would be bumped from the primetime slot, Sam confessed she’d hit breaking point.

Speaking to the Herald Sun, the former reality TV star opens up on the way she dealt with the difficult time, revealing she sought professional help to cope with the relentless online backlash.

Sam and Sash split in 2016.

“I reached breaking point last year. I was like oh my goodness I am really, really struggling with my mental health,” the radio host told the publication.

“The trolls and the criticism were relentless. I just thought I am a good person, I am a wonderful friend, I am a wonderful sister and I work hard and I am grounded, I don’t understand why people are being so horrible to me.”

She tells of how she did her research, ensuring she found the right psychologist for her. “I could tell she got me straight away,” Sam recalls.

“I started seeing her and I’ve seen her every week since. It is expensive but it is worth it. It costs me a bloody fortune.”

While she’s still unfortunately the target of online backlash, Sam says she’s now better equipped to deal with the online trolls, thanks to the help of her psychologist.

“I still cop it from time to time, people are constantly talking about my weight fluctuating, how boring,” she says of the comments.

“I kind of think anyone who writes those things to me, it is actually a problem they have with themselves and not with me.”

Explaining, she goes on: “It is the same cycle, sometimes I gain weight, sometimes I lose weight. Sometimes if I am eating food with a lot of sugar my face gets puffier, if I am eating really healthy and eating lean my face gets skinner.

“It is what it is. I don’t know what else to say about it.”
