Colombian pop sensation Shakira has shared a glimpse of her new baby boy Sasha Piqué Mebarak with the world.
One week after Shakira, 37, was rushed to hospital with her famous footballer husband Gerard Pique, 27, by her side to deliver her newborn son Sasha, she has shared an adorable picture of the baby boy’s feet with her fans via her Facebook page.
She also wrote the following to accompany the post.
“Tengo los pies de papi, parece que hubiese estado jugando futbol toda mi vida”
Or, translated: “I have Daddy’s feet, it looks like I’ve been playing football my whole life”
Shakira announced the arrival of her second child on her website last week, explaining his name – Sasha Piqué Mebarak.
“The name Sasha is of Greek and Russian descent and means ‘defender of mankind’ and ‘warrior,'” she said.
Shakira and Gerard already have one son together – Milan, who they welcomed in 2013. At the time of his birth, professional soccer player Gerard shared a first glimpse of their first son a very similar way, via a Tweet featuring a photo of his little feet!
Milan celebrated his 2nd birthday just days ago on January 22nd with a party at a luxury Barcelona hotel.
Shakira and Gerard first met during the 2010 World Cup when Shakira was promoting and performing her world cup anthem ‘Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)’. Footballer Gerard plays for FC Barcelona and the Spain national team.
In a kind of anniversary, both Gerard and Shakira participated again in last years World Cup, with Shakira performing her new World Cup single ‘La La La (Brazil 2014)’ at the closing ceremony.
“If it wasn’t for the World Cup, my son Milan would not be here,” Shakira told the Associated Press before performing.
Shakira also previously opened up to Latina magazine about how motherhood has changed her since having son Milan: “When you have a baby, when you feel his love, you feel so at peace with the world,” she said.
“You just want to share the good news and share how happy you feel.”
