Following Rocco Ritchie’s September 28 drug bust, his mum, eternal Material Girl Madonna, has come out saying she will love and stand by her teenage son.
“I love my son very much,” she told The Associated Press on Wednesday, November 23.
“I will do whatever I can to give him the support that he needs, and I ask that you respect our privacy at this time.”
Her statement comes as the 58-year-old took to Instagram with a moving Thanksgiving dedication to Rocco, as well as her other children David, Lourdes, and Mercy, captioning the pic: “Reasons to be thankful.”
As previously reported by Woman’s Day, Rocco, who’s the son of Madonna and English filmmaker Guy Ritchie, was sprung with marijuana in his north London neighbourhood after local residents spotted him “smoking or doing drugs” on a wall with a friend.
He was then reportedly stopped during a stop-and-search operation by officers of Camden’s police department, before being taken to another police station in north London.
Local residents where Rocco lives allegedly called the cops on him.
“Rocco has become a well-known figure in the neighbourhood and not for the right reasons. He’s been repeatedly seen acting suspiciously,” an insider told The Sun.
“This incident was the final straw. Local residents are fed up with him acting in this manner and called the police,” the source added.
The teen lives with his father Guy in north London.
Rocco’s shock drug arrest follows a tumultuous year for Madonna, Rocco and their family.
The Like A Prayer singer spent much of the year embroiled in a bitter custody battle with her ex-husband Guy over the teen’s living arrangements.
After months of unrest, it’s believed Rocco will remain in London with Guy, and Madge is allowed regular visits.
