Meghan Markle has made a showstopping return to the spotlight this week, and while the Duchess of Sussex capped off her final royal engagements with aplomb, there was one thing we couldn’t help but wonder: Where was baby Archie?

The 38-year-old mum has kept very, well, mum on all things Archie since his birth on May 6 last year, so any fresh news, let alone a picture of the 10-month old is always a welcome addition.

That’s why its understandable that fans went into meltdown this week when Meghan revealed a rather cute milestone the young royal bub has approached.

Stepping out to attend an assembly at Robert Clack Upper School in Dagenham, Essex on March 6, the Duchess was all smiles as she addressed students about issues affecting women in modern society.

The visit itself was held in conjunction with International Women’s Day – something Meghan has passionately taken part in for many years.

Of course, her outfit consisting a chic ME+EM tweed blazer and Jennifer Chamandi Lorenzo pumps was exciting enough to witness.

As was her empowering message to the students: “No matter how small you might feel, how low you may feel on the ladder or the totem pole, no matter what colour you are, no matter what gender you are, you have a voice, and you certainly have the right to speak up for what is right.”

But amongst the fashion fare and inspiring words, Meghan also let slip a detail we were very excited to hear.

One of the guests in attendance on the day told the Daily Mail that the Duchess had told them: “[Archie’s] exactly 10 months today and he’s started trying to walk.”

She also reportedly told them that Archie had “changed my life.”

Meghan’s words will no doubt strike a chord with new mothers and we can only imagine how challenging it must have been for the former actress to become a new mum while juggling the pressures of being a royal.

Which is why her and Prince Harry’s decision to step back from their current roles as senior royals is quite understandable.

With a newborn baby now their priority, it makes sense for the parents to be protective, choosing to limit his exposure to the world as they themselves settle into life as parents.

Now, we’ll just wait in hope that we get a new picture of the tot in two months time when he celebrates his first birthday!
